Galway property developer building on average three houses per week

A successful property developer based in Galway is stepping forward in an attempt to tackle the shortage of housing in Ireland.

With over twenty-five years of experience, Fergal O’Mahony is a firm believer in the ethos behind building homes; to develop properties and a community around it. O’Mahony is confronting the worst housing crisis for 40 years’ by building on average three houses per week.

Fergal O’Mahony is CEO of Highgate Properties which focuses on identifying and developing sites and property investments in Ireland and the UK. Whilst Highgate has an impressive portfolio of luxury properties in both the residential and commercial sectors, it is also very much focused on identifying opportunities for quality but affordable family homes. Highgate Properties has successfully tendered and negotiated projects for a range of clients including private individuals, industry, commercial property agents, hotels to public bodies such as City and County Councils.

O’Mahony is also the CEO of Aspect Design to Finish, a privately owned construction services company with a strong reputation for building quality and excellence. ‘Our long-standing partnership with Ardstone Homes, one of Ireland’s leading residential property development companies, is one of the reasons that we have been able to successfully finish on average three homes a week for the past few years. The combined expertise with Highgate sourcing sites, managing the planning applications and maximising the return on the investment coupled with the practical expertise of Aspect as a quality building company make our group of companies an ideal partner for other property development companies,’ Says O’Mahony.

Providing complex projects on time and within budget has no doubt helped establish Fergal O’Mahony’s reputation in the construction industry. His management team work closely with design teams providing a full turn-key service to clients, ensuring smooth coordination of all aspects of the project including mechanical and electrical services.

What’s in store for Fergal O’Mahony in 2020 and beyond

Highgate Property Group presently has 6 sites under construction and are targeting completion for all these sites by mid-2020.

O’Mahony is keen to continue his companies growth by acquiring and developing new sites. In order to achieve this level of growth, considering alternative funding would enable more efficient and sustainable operations. O’Mahony’s appetite to reinvest in Highgate’s people and add value to these areas is admirable.

Recent projects include Kevin Street and Swords in Dublin, Bohermore, Woodquay Court and Barna in Galway as well as premium residential developments in Connacht Square and Queensgate in London. Other developments undertaken include properties tailored to the holiday home market in the West Of Ireland, as well as other high-end residential developments in London and Dublin.

With construction costs spiralling out of control both from a material and labour perspective, partnering with their own construction company, Aspect Design to Finish, allows O’Mahony to keep a close eye on costs without compromising the quality of homes.
